The Finance for Non-Finance Directors course is designed to take any Director from whatever financial knowledge they currently have, up to a strong working ability covering all of the financial knowledge areas and skills that are essential to successfully manage and run any company.

This Finance for Non-Finance Directors course will enable you to satisfy all of your legal financial duties and to analyse and interpret any Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account or Cash Flow statement. You will learn to recognise and understand the impact of the Fundamental Accounting Concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP, on any company’s Financial Statements.

You will be able to understand and use P/E Ratios, ROCE, ROI, Gearing, Current Ratio, Quick Ratio, Stock Days, Debtor Days and Creditor Days. You will become familiar with techniques such as NPV, Net Present Value, DCF, Discounted Cashflow, Net Asset Value, Enterprise Value and EBITDA.

The course fee include a free 2 hour, one to one, follow up session, given as 1 hour per course day

Costing methods based upon Break Even analysis and Contribution analysis will be contrasted with Overhead Cost Allocation approaches to identify their relative strengths and weaknesses. It will provide a good understanding of Budgeting, including Zero Based Budgeting, Cash Management and Cash Forecasting. You will be able to understand and manage the relationship between ROCE, ROI and Gearing.

You will be able to value possible company acquisitions and disposals using EBITDA and P/E Ratios, as well as evaluate the likely change in the market value of your own organisation as a result of any potential acquisition or disposal. You will understand the purpose of consolidated accounts and the key information hidden within those accounts.

You will gain a sound theoretical financial knowledge base upon which to build and acquire new and more advanced financial management skills. The course places great emphasis on hands-on case studies and discussions, where attendees get the opportunity to practice their newly acquired skills and knowledge, to reinforce the learning process and to really integrate them into their core knowledge and skill set.

Company law requires all Board Directors to understand their own accounts and holds the Directors collectively responsible for the validity of the annual financial accounts. Directors must not approve their annual financial statements, unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view.

This Finance for Non-Finance Directors course will enable you to satisfy all of your legal financial duties and, without any previous knowledge, to analyse and interpret any Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account or Cash Flow statement, using Fundamental Accounting Concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Practice, GAAP.
